"If I didn't Know Better" (Red Poppies)

After the loss of a loved one, there are so many moments when you can still feel their presence, when it feels for an instant as though they are somehow still here. As if... If you didn't know better, you could just pick up the phone and call them. My mother loved the garden at our lake house. A garden that her relatives started over a hundred years ago. That she cared for with such patience and joy. Whenever I am there to see her poppies blooming I get that feeling - like she's speaking to me through their brilliant red blooms.
